My name is Waikay and I am a photographer based in Brisbane, Australia.
My love affair with photography started when my father gave me his old Yashica Minister D camera. Since then, I have never been without a camera, taking photos of everything. Growing up I took photos of my budgies, scenes from around our house, my family, my bike, my school friends and parties. After university I traveled extensively and took my camera all around Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas and saw the world through my lenses.
In my site I have categorized my photos into Weddings, Events, Portraits and Products.
I love photographing weddings. The excitement of the bride getting ready, the casualness of the groom kicking back before saying the words “I Do”, the smell of flowers and the formality of the ceremony giving way to location shots and finally, the party and the tossing of the bouquet at the reception. I know that what I do will be the memories of this auspicious day for years and generation to come.
Events like conferences, forums, grand openings, etc are special for all participants from the organiser, sponsors, exhibitors to delegates, presenters, and VIPs. Perhaps what I pride myself most is to be able to record the event for the organizer and sponsors to mark that special occasion in a corporate milestone. I take much pride in working with the organizer to develop a photo brief; paying special attention to VIP shots, the gala dinner and entertainment and the often forgotten behind the scene shots for the organization’s own portfolio. Some of the VIPs I have had the pleasure of photographing are Hon Nicola Roxon MP, Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Hon Peter Dutton MP, Shadow Minister for Health and Ageing and Hon Judy Spence, Leader of the House.
Portraits are simply a great way to photograph you and / or someone special in your own natural surroundings. This can be as simply as a child playing in the garden with the first fall of autumn leaves, children playing in the park to an organized photo shoot of you engaged in your favorite past time activity like cycling.
Perhaps the greatest compliment that I have received is that “…I bring out the best in people”.
